The months of January and February are often slow months in the retail business. No one wants to go outside when Mother Nature brings Antarctica to our town. Some of us are still broke from Christmas. It’s often a stretch to figure out something fun to do to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Thanks to Craig and Mary Ann Stertz, their MarCon Pie Shop and Lincoln’s downtown merchants, there are new opportunities for fun and gifts!
First, if you act quickly, there is a new option for dinner in Lincoln! MarCon Pie is offering a fully cooked meal to go. Orders must be placed before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 1, by calling Dana Chapman at 524-2264 or email at marconorders@gmail. com. Payment will be required upon order.
MarCon employees will prepare a cavatini bake to go and have your order ready for pick up February 2 between 4:40 and 6:00 pm.
The meals are $10 for a single serving and $15 for a double serving. Texas Toast Garlic Bread is available for $.75 per slice and is not included in the meal.
Chapman said the response has been more than they imagined. With such community support they may consider making this offer periodically. In a community with limited evening food choices, this could be a win-win.
The Stertz’ and Chapman also thought they should create some sort of shopping event for downtown merchants. Saturday, February 11 several merchants banded together to create a Valentine’s Day Sweetie Pie event. This was originally planned as a progressive date night, but if your “date” turns out to be your grandmother, know that all are invited.
An afternoon shopping event will include Seirer’s Clothing Sip N’ Shop from 10 am to 5 pm. They will be serving wine and cake pops for all their shoppers. Mrs. B’s Floral, KC Quilting Co. and Village Lines are also participating in the afternoon of shopping.
A Sweetheart Dinner will be served at Deb’s Place from 4 pm – 7 pm. On the menu is your choice of chicken or shrimp alfredo with salad and a fabulous Violette’s dessert.
Or, enjoy a well prepared steak dinner at the VFW from 5:30 pm – 8 pm. Your choice of a ribeye, KC strip or filet, salad, baked potato or house potatoes are on the menu. The bar is open until 2 am.
A Make & Take pie class will begin at MarCon Pies from 5 pm – 7 pm. The class is $20 per couple. Heartshaped Sweetie Pies will be available for purchase.
Join in a wine tasting at Lincoln Art Center from 5 pm – 7 pm for $10 per couple. You can also shop for oneof- a-kind finds at the gift shop gallery. At 7 pm, stroll over to the Finch for a showing of 80 for Brady starring Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, Sally Field and of course, Tom Brady.
With merchants such as those we have in Lincoln there are several opportunities to make your Sweetie Pie a happy one!
