The Vesper Community Center will host a special Bingo Christmas celebration December 2 at the Center, 1247 N. 120th Rd, in Vesper, just one mile south of K-18. Two special guests are scheduled to appear that will appeal to all ages.
High on the list of events is an $850 charity raffle fundraiser! Raffle tickets will be on sale inside the facility at 5:30 the evening of the event. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Three prize winners will be drawn at 7 p.m. for one $100 prize, one $250 prize, and one $500 prize. Twenty games of Bingo will begin at 7.
Santa will arrive and be ready to see if you’ve been naughty or nice from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. His elves will be in the concession stand offering grilled hamburgers, fresh chicken noodle soup and loaded nachos, along with freshly baked cheesecake, chocolate chip cookies, pies and cinnamon rolls. Ice cream sundaes, floats, popcorn and beverages will also be available. Santa’s elves know what we like!
All proceeds will be used to support the all-volunteer Vesper Community Center and its programs.
The free raffle, the appearance of Santa Claus and a performance by Elvis are sponsored by Kansas Homes & Movers.
Brian Lee Dunning will perform Christmas songs as Elvis. His show will begin at 6:30 p.m. A seamless Elvis tribute artist, Dunning has portrayed the “King” at fantasy themed events, on the soundtrack for a New York theme park’s Elvis themed show, and one of only 35 performers selected to perform at the Elvis tribute contest held in the “King’s” hometown of Tupelo, MS. Dunning toured the nation with the renowned Johnny Cash tribute show “He wears black.” He has also shared the stage with such legends as Jerry Lee Lewis, Wanda Jackson, Big Al Downing, Chuck Berry and Sonny Burgess.
The facility is also supported by private donations and grants from Dane G. Hansen Foundation and Post Rock Community Foundation. Recent kitchen upgrades were funded in part by Lincoln County Wind Benefit Fund and local businesses, including Pioneer Hi-Bred Seed of Sylvan Grove, Citizens State Bank & Trust, Meyer Tire and Lube, the Bank of Tescott, Strategic Far Solutions, Lincoln Building Supply, S&S Autobody, Bennington State Bank, Kansas Homes and Movers and Seirer’s Clothing.
