In a continued display of school support, eight teachers in USD 298 have been awarded grants to enhance their classrooms from the USD 298 Education Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to provide supplies, academic and extracurricular support to the staff and students in the Lincoln school district. The Education Foundation also distributes annual student scholarships, new teacher grants and additional funds throughout the year for school and student needs.
Grant requests are selected by the Foundation through an application process from teachers outlining their grant ideas and requested funds. Over $3000 was donated this cycle to the teachers of 298 for a wide array of supplies including: preschool games and activities for the classroom, flexible seating for first grade, versa tiles and dry erase boards for the junior high math department, dissection trays and microscopes for the science and agriculture classrooms, additional equipment for the weight room, and shop equipment for the wood and metal shop.
“Teachers play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the students of 298 and of our community and by supporting them with these grants, we hope they understand the continued support they have from all of the people who have graciously donated to the 298 Education Foundation,” Principal Nikki Flinn said.
The 298 Education Foundation will continue to work to raise funds and support for the Lincoln school system. Donations may be sent to the USD298 board office at 133 E. Lincoln Avenue. For more information call (785) 524-4436.
