After 50 years in banking, Galen “Digger” Liggett, Vice President at Citizens State Bank & Trust Co., Lincoln, has announced his retirement in January of 2024.
Liggett began his career when John McReynolds, Bank President of Farmers National Bank, hired him to begin work on December 17, 1973, in bookkeeping. Through the years, Liggett has worked not only in bookkeeping, but also as a teller and loan officer, ending his career as manager of the Lincoln bank location. His entire 50-year career was in the same location.
Besides a career in the banking industry, Liggett has spent 50 years serving the community of Lincoln. He has volunteered on several local boards including the Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln Lions Club, 14 years on the Lincoln County Hospital Board of Trustees, 25 years as a volunteer ambulance driver for Lincoln County EMS and 40 years as the Treasurer for the City of Lincoln.
“As I near retirement, I leave with no regrets and a heart full of love and gratitude for those I have touched along the way,” Liggett said. “This is more than a workplace. I am so proud to leave this place with the team that is here.”
“We are happy to have had Galen on our team and appreciate his dedication to the bank as well as the Lincoln community,“ CSB&T Bank President, David Brownback said. “We wish him the best in his retirement.”
A retirement reception is planned for Galen in the lobby of the Lincoln bank Tuesday, January 16 from 2 – 4 p.m.
