The Sylvan Speech and Drama team captured second place at the Norton Invitational Tournament Saturday, February 4, qualifying eight events for the State Championship.
Ten teams participated in the tournament, with Phillipsburg winning. Of Sylvan’s 20 entries,15 made it into the final round.
First place honors were earned by Molly Heller (Serious Solo), Keeli Knobbe (Humorous Solo), and Kaylee Johnson (Original Oration), Others qualifying for state competition were Keeli Knobbe/ Addie Wallace (2nd in Duet), Goldie Dohe (2nd in Oration), Molly Heller (2nd in Informative), Jacob Schultz (2nd in Humorous Solo), and Addie Wallace (2nd in Serious Solo). Other participants were Sydney Heller (3rd in Serious Solo; 3rd in Oration), Layne Buttenhoff (5th in Humorous Solo; IDA), Aubrelle Hurlbut (6th in Humorous Solo; Prose), Jacob Schultz (4th in Prose), Kaylee Johnson (3rd in Informative), Valden Dohl and Harlan Pancost (4th in Duet), Goldie Dohe (Prose), Valden Dohl (Prose), and Isaac Schultz (Prose, IDA).
