During its spring grant cycle, the Post Rock Community Foundation awarded more than $92,000 to 18 separate projects throughout Lincoln County and the communities served y USD 298 and USD 299.
Barnard Rural Fire Department received $2,500 to purchase tools for tire change, repairs and maintenance Trinity Lutheran Church received $3,394 to support materials and vendors needed to renovate their kitchen. Sylvan Public Library was awarded $4,800 to upgrade computers and printers.
NCK Outdoors, Inc. was awarded $5,000 to support phase 2 of Quartzite Park with purchases of grading and construction needs, fencing and picnic tables.
An award of $4,295.99 was granted to Vesper Community Center to support payment for upgrades on handicap parking, the ramp and parking lot millings.
The Luray Historical Society received $1,669.21 to support Wyatt’s Adventure to Save History for updates to the west wall of the log cabin.
The Luray Community Foundation was awarded $,775 to purchase and install new lighting in the community kitchen, upgrade the breaker box and wire a new hot water heater.
Lincoln County Economic Development received a $5,000 grant to support the renovation of 127 W. Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln.
The Lincoln Recreation Department in the City of Lincoln received $10,000 to hire a vendor to complete fencing for the Softball/ Youth Field Construction Project.
The City of Sylvan Grove plans to finish the fairground playground with mulch and other necessary materials with their $5,000 award.
USD 298 was awarded $10,000 to construct a greenhouse for educational opportunities; $7,000 to purchase a variety of playground su8plies for Little Leopard Learners playground; $2,440 for a oneyear license for the VR Lab Academy for a total of $19,440 to improve the district’s learning environment. USD 299 received $2,215 to purchase the PLL +PCK Basic Intervention Bundle of the 95% Phonics Library; $20,000 to purchase needed items and upgrades for the High School Stage Update Project; $960.99 to purchase a projector and iPad for the Sylvan-Lucas Booster Club Advertisement Project; $3,249.50 for the purchase of 10 Spike Lego Kits for Cooperative Learning and STEAM Development and $270.31 to purchase six flex-space balance ball seats and four kids balance balls for a total of $26,695.80 for enhancements to the education of their students.
This round of grants was made possible by four funds at the community foundation, including the Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund; the Post Rock Community Action Fund and the Sylvan Area Fund, which all focus on improving quality of life throughout the service area, as well as the Kansas Health Foundation Fund for Post Rock which supports the public health of Lincoln County and the communities served by USD 298 and USD 299.
