A local student is a winner of an essay contest sponsored by the League of Kansas Municipalities.
Alison Rosebrook, a student at Lincoln Jr/Sr High School was named the North Central Regional Winner of the Local Leaders of Tomorrow: 7th Grade Essay Contest.
According to the May/June 2024 issue of the Kansas Government Journal, published by the League, almost 400 students submitted essays. Five regional winners and an overall winner were honored at a ceremony in Topeka on May 3, 2024.
Students were asked to write about the most important role and responsibilities of local government. Ms. Rosebrook identified three significant functions, the fire department, schools, and social care.
