Sylvan-Lucas places first at Natoma Speech Tournament

The Sylvan Speech captured first place at the Natoma Speech Tournament on Monday, February 27th, besting 2nd place Norton by 19 points and 3rd place Phillipsburg by 42. This was the second competition for the team this season. First place individual winners were Keeli Knobbe in Humorous Solo; Keeli Knobbe and Addie Wallace in Duet; and Kaylee Johnson in Original Oration. Second place honors went to Goldie Dohe in Prose, Addie Wallace in Serious Solo, and Molly Heller in Informative Speaking. Other medalists were Kaylee Johnson (3rd in Informative Speaking), (Sydney Heller 3rd in Original Oration), Molly Heller (4th in Serious Solo), Jacob Schultz (3rd in Humorous Solo and 6th in Prose), Valden Dohl and Harlan Pancost (4th in Duet), Valden Dohl (3rd in Prose), Harlan Pancost (5th in Poetry), Anna Feldkamp (5th in Prose and 6th in Poetry). Other team members performing were Hannah Pahls (Prose and Serious Solo), Aubrelle Hurlbut (Prose), Layne Buttenhoff (Humorous Solo and IDA), Sydney Heller (Serious Solo), Isaac Schultz (Impromptu and IDA), and Montana Griffiths and Kristyn Nimz (Duet and IDA). The team has currently qualified 9 team members for state competition.
