The Lincoln PRIDE committee has completed several projects in Lincoln to help make the community more visually appealing and enhance pride in the residents with Yard of the Month, Community volunteer awards, flowers and benches in downtown Lincoln and a number of other projects.

Their latest project enhances the city park. The group identified four outdoor musical instruments they wanted to see in our city park that anyone of any age can enjoy.

With a grant from the WEB fund and another from the Post Rock Community Foundation, donations from individuals and previous fundraising, the group has purchased and installed two of the four instruments they wanted to place. The remaining two pieces include the drums and an imbarimba, estimated at $11,000.

The imbarimba is a pentatonic instrument that delivers resonating sounds. The inspiration for this design combines elements of two African classics – the marimba (a resonated xylophone) and kalimb (a thumb piano). Notes are arranged in a particular way to allow the player full access to both upper and lower notes.

PRIDE is offering a pancake fundraiser Sunday, March 26. From 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Finch Theatre. The menu includes pancakes, a toppings bar that includes butter, syrup, fruit, whipped topping and chocolate chips along with freshly scrambled eggs and sausage. Chocolate, lemon and butterscotch delight desserts will also be offered, along with coffee, tea or water.

Whether you want breakfast for lunch, a late brunch or a very late breakfast, bring your appetite to the Finch Theatre and help fund the city park project.
