Dr. Randy Watson, Commissioner of Education, along with Cathy Hopkins, District 5 State BOE visited the L Tech Center March 8 to visit with students and staff concerning the advances the district has made in opening a technical education center that provides training and certifications for high school students in the area.
In partnership with Salina Technical College, the L Tech Center opened at the beginning of the 2022-23 school year. Salina Tech provides the instructors and equipment with the building provided for the project by USD 298.
The funding for the building and renovation project was accomplished through private donations and grants. One major contributor was the Dane G. Hanson Foundation.
The goal of the L Tech Center is to continue to grow and provide additional training and certification programs for the students in the surrounding area.
