Nominate volunteer for Sunflower Fair

Do you know of an individual in Lincoln County who has gone above and beyond expectations as a volunteer serving the county’s seniors? If so, this is your chance to recognize that person.

Do you know of an individual in Lincoln County who has gone above and beyond expectations as a volunteer serving the county’s seniors? If so, this is your chance to recognize that person.

The North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging is sponsoring its annual Sunflower Fair on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina, KS. This is a premiere Health and Wellness event for seniors, featuring workshops, exhibitors, speakers and a noon luncheon.

At the luncheon, honorees from the 18-county North Central area will be recognized. Each county is allowed to nominate one individual for this recognition.

County nominations must meet these specifications: He or she must be - A senior Kansan (age 60 or older by September 1) who resides in Lincoln County.

- A senior whose contributions stand out – someone who has brought people together to build or enhance services for elders and has enhanced the quality of life in your community.

- Not a current NCFH AAA board member or Advisory Council member.

- Someone willing to represent the county by attending and receiving recognition at the Sunflower Fair on Tuesday, September, 2023.

A short video will be produced to honor the nominees. For this video, you will need to provide: - A short, written account of how your honoree helps others in the county. Give a description of qualities and specific instances or events that show why this person i special to Lincoln County.

- Personal history, such as family information, childhood stories, and words your honoree lives by. The more colorful the better!

- A written statement telling how he/she qualifies for this honor.

- A 5 X 7 current photo of your honoree and five photos of him/her in action. (Digital photos are encouraged. Please do not send studio, church or other professional photographs, as these are subject to copyright.)

- Personal history/information.

The county’s honoree must agree to: - Represent the county, attend the Sunflower Fair, and be recognized at the noon luncheon. (No speech is required.)

- Provide information such as quotes, facts and writings that can be used in the program guide and video.

- Provide a 5 x 7 current photo and five community service action photos.

- Plan to attend and be honored at the 2023 Sunflower Fair at the Salina Tony’s Pizza Events Center on September 19, 2023.

If you know of a SENSATIONAL SENIOR whom you would like to see included in the Sunflower Fair Showcase, please gather this information and submit it to the LCCA by the May 23 meeting. The LCCA Board will choose Lincoln County’s honoree on May 23, as nominations are due to NCFH AAA by June 16. Plan now to attend this year’s Sunflower Fair on Tuesday, September 19, at the Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina. Registration is now open – only $20 per person if you register before July 5. Register by completing the online form or calling 1-800-432-2703.
