Progress continues on the Sylvan Senior Center Farmers Elevator renovation project. The roof has been replaced. Exterior and interior limestone walls have been tuck pointed and refurbished. New concrete floors and drainage systems have been installed in the basement and Great Room. Interior framework has been completed, and rooms are ready for finishing.
The SSC membership is excited and appreciative of the support that has been received to help renovate and repurpose this historic building. Members believe that this building is going to be a historically relevant and aesthetically beautiful meeting space that will serve the seniors and future seniors of Sylvan Grove. It will also serve the townspeople of all ages, the community and the surrounding area. But support is needed. SSC president Lorelei Dohl said, “It is essential that we invest in our community’s infrastructure, our history and our future to keep our small town alive and growing. I firmly believe that this project will make Sylvan Grove a better place. And I hope and pray that everyone who shares our vision for the future of our community will invest in this project.” If you would like to be a part of this venture forward, you can still donate to the cause. Remember, if you donate $100 or more before January 18, 2023, you will be eligible for a drawing for a 55-inch flatscreen TV. You may mail donations to: Sylvan Senior Center, 109 S Main, P.O Box 34, Sylvan Grove, KS 67481. Or you may drop a donation by with Lorelei Dohl or Michael Kratky. Donations to the Sylvan Senior Center are tax deductible. They are also much needed and much appreciated at any time.
Thank you so much to all of those who share the vision and are willing to make an investment in the future of Sylvan Grove, Lincoln County and rural Kansas!
