Vesper Community Center to host Memorial Day Meal On May 29th

The Vesper Community Center volunteers will be hosting the annual Memorial Day Luncheon in Vesper on Monday, May 29th from 11:30am to 2:00pm. The public is invited to visit the community center and enjoy a meal during the day while visiting memorials around the county. The interior of the community center recently was updated with new paint and trim and has a new updated look for the event.

The Vesper Community Center volunteers will be hosting the annual Memorial Day Luncheon in Vesper on Monday, May 29th from 11:30am to 2:00pm. The public is invited to visit the community center and enjoy a meal during the day while visiting memorials around the county. The interior of the community center recently was updated with new paint and trim and has a new updated look for the event.

This year, the menu includes sloppy joes, cheesy potatoes and ham, green bean casserole, a choice of dessert, coffee, tea or bottled water. Desserts this year will include apple spice cake, cheese cake, brownies, cookies, pies and other treats. The Memorial Day Luncheon is the community center’s biggest fundraiser of the year. A donation is appreciated to cover the cost of the meal which helps support the Community Center’s programs. This year will feature a special display of some original 1960s Vesper baseball uniforms. The baseball jersey uniforms are being silent auctioned during the meal. The center plans to keep some of the jerseys for its own display purposes and auction the rest so they can find good homes.

Vesper Farmers and Makers markets resume Thursday June 8th. No table fees are charged to vendors and anyone may sell what the make or grow inside or outside. Vendors who sign up on the vespercc.org website will be mentioned on the Vesper facebook page and receive free promotion for their goods.

The facility is available for rental and can be rented for as little as 2 hours, a day or an entire weekend. Rental information and contracts are available on the vesper community website www. vespercc.org The Memorial Day meal is being sponsored by local businesses which include S&S Auto service and towing, Bennington State Bank, World Pest Control, Kansas Midwest Homes and Movers, Seirer’s Clothing, Pioneer Hi-Bred Seed of Sylvan Grove, Citizens State Bank & Trust, Meyer Tire and Lube and the Bank of Tescott and Strategic Farm Solutions.
