Scoular, PRCF push track fundraising near $300,000

When Scoular acquired Walker Products’ grain handling facility in Lincoln last October the Omaha, Neb., based company emphasized their commitment to community support through its Scoular Foundation. The $9 billion agribusiness with 1,400 employees in more than 100 offices and facilities in North America and Asia is honoring that commitment to community in the form of a $21,000 donation to the USD #298 Track Fundraising Committee.

“The Scoular Foundation is a private philanthropic organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of human life in the communities where Scoular employees live and work,” states the foundation’s About page on their website. “We prioritize giving to programs that enrich those communities and help people meet basic human needs. We also support the philanthropic passions of our employees and business partners.”

Committee members are thrilled to see Scoular’s interest in the project and the Lincoln community.

“When you lose a long-time independently owned business like Walker Products in a town the size of Lincoln to a large enterprise like Scoular you worry there may be a lack of community support, but Scoular is showing it’s commitment to our community in the form of a generous donation to this important facility renovation effort,” said USD #298 Track Fundraising Committee member Jim Metz. “The Scoular Foundation’s donation continues the tremendous momentum of the May 6th Track-A-Thon. The committee believes now, more than ever, this project can get done.”

PRCF awards second grant to the project

The Post Rock Community Foundation is well-known for its commitment to supporting important projects of non-profits in the communities served by the #298 and #299 Unified School Districts and after their recent grant selection meeting the affiliate of the Greater Salina Community Foundation agreed to award a second grant of $10,000 to the project after first awarding a $10,000 grant in the early phases of the project.

“The PRCF’s continued support of this project is greatly appreciated by the committee,” grant applicant and committee member Becky Cheney said. “This is just the kind of boost we need to push this project closer to the finish line.”

Together with the major donations from The Bank of Tescott, Citizens State Bank & Trust Co., the Lincoln Lions Club, the commitment of ARPA funds from the Lincoln County Commission and numerous other donors both large and small the fundraising effort stands just short of $285,000 either donated or pledged to the fundraising effort.

The committee will continue to explore grant opportunities for public athletic and fitness facilities while also providing expanded donor recognition opportunities for new major donors.
