Area schools gear up for 2023-24 school year

As a student, there were a few events or milestones, that helped keep track of how much “free” time was left to enjoy. First there is the last day of school. Then Memorial Day weekend and the opening of the city swimming pool. Vacation Bible School was always in June which kept us busy for a week, followed by Independence Day. After fireworks in July there was nothing left to be excited about. After mudding through triple-digit temperatures and seemingly endlessly long days, summer is obviously in full swing which means it is time to start getting ready for school!
