Eckhart retires after 37 years at The Bank of Tescott

Jeanna Eckhart is retiring from the Bank of Tescott (BOT) after 37 years of actual service to the bank. She was originally employed by the Saline Valley Bank 40 years ago but left the bank a few times for personal reasons, making her actual work time 37 years. Either way, that is a long time to work for the same company in the same building.

Beginning as a teller, Eckhart’s job evolved, and she was given more responsibility. During her tenure with BOT she has been a teller, loan secretary, Customer Service Rep., Branch Manager, and Security Officer. She’s even been known to climb up on the roof to fix something!

“If you drive and see someone on the roof, it’s probably me,” she laughed. “If I see something that needs to be done I just do it. It all pays the same!”

When asked why she’s chosen this time to retire, Eckhart said, “It’s just time. Things are much different now than when I started my career. Everything moves faster. It’s just time.”

Eckhart’s husband, Mark has chosen to continue working for a few more years, but the couple have traveling on their retirement agenda. They already have a two-week tour of the southwest planned for August, and a cruise for next year.

In May Cindy Aufdemberge moved into Eckhart’s position. Aufdemberge is a 15-year employee of the bank, also spending her career at the Lincoln branch. Starting as a teller in 2008, she took on Accounts Payable in 2015. In 2021 she was made Head Teller. In May 2023 she was made Branch Manager.

“I’m not going to even attempt to fill Jeanna’s shoes,” Aufdemberge said. “I just want to keep things running smoothly and seamlessly for our customers.”

“You know, our Mission Statement is “committed to those we serve.” Aufdemberge added. “That describes Jeanna Eckhart. She was truly committed to those we serve.”

In honor of her retirement, a reception for Eckhart will be held at the Bank of Tescott, 101 E. Lincoln Ave., Lincoln, KS on Friday, July 21 from 2-4 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
