The Hometown Helpers Community Club had a full summer of work and play. After a June rocket building meeting and rocket launch in Hutchinson, KS, they held a business meeting in July. They met on July 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Sylvan Grove. The meeting was called to order by President Jacob Schultz. Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance, the Hometown Helpers pledge and motto. Chaplain Parker Reagan introduced Scripture verse Proverbs 3:5 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. Adelyn Dohl led the club in singing “Hello, Muddah, Hello Faddah” and “I’ve Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy Down in my Heart.”
Roll call was answered by: My Favorite Summer Food. Eighteen members, seven adults and two guests were in attendance. Minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read.
A letter that contained a monetary gift was read from the VFW Auxiliary Post #7928.
Treasurer Anna Feldkamp reported on the club balance.
Lorelei Dohl asked members and their parents to sign up to serve as assistant superintendents in the open class building at the Lincoln County Fair.
The club shirt committee reported that the club’s t-shirts will be light blue with dark blue and orange logo and writing. They will be distributed the Thursday of the fair. Club members will wear their new t-shirts to the fair on Friday. Members voted to take the cost of the shirts out of the club treasury.
The banner committee reported that Sign Pro in Salina has finished the banner. It has the club’s logo and says Hometown Helpers Community Club.
Members signed a thank you card for KOSMO Launch organizers.
Hometown Helpers will have a Cake Walk/Bake Walk on Friday evening at the Lincoln County Fair. Each family is to bring five items.
The Hometown Helpers Showcase was discussed and all committees reported.
The Reagan family served cookies and juice for refreshments.
