A new retail spot in Lincoln celebrated with a grand opening celebration Saturday evening that drew 93 people out of their air conditioning and into the heat to enjoy all that owner Heather Steen planned. A soft opening was August 2.
The event was more a celebration than a grand opening and after working on her concept and business for a few years, Steen deserved to celebrate.
Between 6 and 8 p.m. on the grounds of the building at 324 W. Lincoln (former home of Soaring Arrow) those who attended enjoyed a petting zoo, face painting, balloon animals, give-aways, hotdogs, snocones and popcorn! If this sounds like a children’s party it might be because LouMae & Ash caters to the younger set, but hasn’t left adults out either.
LouMae & Ash is named for Steen’s daughters. The family’s pet name for Olivia is Lou. Mae is Aleece’s middle name and Ash is Ashlyn’s nick name. Steen said that is that is usually the first thing people want to know about her store.
The business began as a home basement print shop capable of customization of several types of items. Eventually she moved her base to her husband, Brad Steen’s, law office in Ellsworth. As her printing business grew, she felt it was time to move her base back to Lincoln and started looking for a suitable location.
Steen liked this building because she could use the front as a store and her print shop in the back.
“I wanted to provide the town with something they didn’t already have,” Steen said.
LouMae & Ash carries children’s clothing; Mom, Dad and Grandparent themed shirts and accessories. She will have Halloween costumes and will be able to take orders for any kind of costume someone might want. She’s also going to start offering toys after Halloween.
“Our print shop offers tees, hats, cups, keychain, license plates and over 75 other items that can be customized for teams, businesses and individuals,” Steen said.
LouMae & Ash is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm.
