Sylvan-Lucas Unified High School will celebrate Homecoming 2023 on Friday, September 29. The Homecoming theme is “Thunderstruck.”
Festivities will begin with a parade Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in downtown Sylvan Grove. Patrons are encouraged to participate with an entry in the parade. Contact the school office at 785-526-7175 to participate. Parade entries will line up on the north side of the city park at 1:30 p.m.
A community pep rally hosted by the SLUHS cheerleaders under the direction of their sponsor, December Gier, in front of Bennington State Bank on Main Street. The crowning of Homecoming King and Queen will begin at 6 p.m. at Weatherman Field. Candidates include Emma Finkenbinder, Ella Hogan and Elsie Finkenbinder for Queen, and Brody Batchman, Drayse Walter and Lane Homewood are candidates for King.
Following the ceremony, the Mustangs will take on the Central Plains Oilers starting at 7 p.m.
The Homecoming dance will be held in the high school commons area immediately following the game until 11 p.m. The dance is sponsored by the sophomore class and their sponsor, Mrs. Bernie Hlad.
