October 24 is National Bologna Day!
Bologna, like hotdogs, is at times referred to as “Mystery Meat,” but it’s more mechanical meat than a mystery. If your bologna is made from “mechanically separated” chicken and pork, it probably has very little beef in it. Although many companies won’t reveal their preferred blend of spices, most of the ingredients in bologna are no secret. They’re listed on the package, free for all to read. As it turns out, most mass-produced varieties of bologna are a lot less gross than you may think—as long as you’re OK with corn syrup-flavored meat batter. Who’s hungry?

Commission Meeting Minutes
September 25, 2023 The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners met in the courthouse commission meeting room on Monday, September 25, 2023. Chairman Dennis Ray called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. with Vice-Chairman Debora Smith and Member Ryley Hembry present. County Clerk Dawn Harlow was in attendance as recording secretary.

BELOW: This group of riders from Bennington and Lincoln County sponsor a toy run every year about this time in preparation for the holiday season. Citizens State Bank & Trust employees sponsor the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree each year. This toy run kicks off the winter holidays and the spirit of giving.

Track committee to launch final fundraising push with Oct. 16th concession stand
As the calendar edges closer to Halloween the USD #298 Track Fundraising Committee moves nearer the December 31st fundraising deadline. The committee plans to host a concession stand fundraiser Monday, October 16th, at the Lincoln Junior High School volleyball tournament, with the volunteer effort launching the final phase of fundraising for the track rebuild project.

Lincoln City-wide Cleanup set for October 16-17
The City of Lincoln has set Monday and Tuesday, October 16 and 17, as city-wide clean-up. Items left on the curb by residents on the east side of 4th Street will be picked up Monday. Those on the west side of 4th Street will be picked up on Tuesday.

Lincoln Housing Authority makes change
The Lincoln Housing Authority board meeting dates from the last Friday of the month to the 2nd Friday of the month. There will be no meeting in October, making the next meeting Friday, November 10 at 10:00 a.m. at the Post Rock Apartments. We will not meet in October and our next meeting will be Friday November 10th at 10:00 am at the Post Rock Apartments.
