Kansas Farm Bureau to recognize tradition, heritage of family farms
Kansas Farm Bureau is continuing in 2024 its recognition for “Sesquicentennial Farms” in conjunction with its annual “Century Farm” program. The Century Farm program honors Farm Bureau members who own farms of at least 80 acres within the same family for 100 years or more. The Sesquicentennial Farm recognition goes to farms in the same family for at least 150 years. 01/09/2024 17:00

Smoky Hill Museum Receives Highest National Recognition
The Smoky Hill Museum has again achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), the highest national recognition afforded the nation’s museums. Accreditation signifies excellence to the museum community, to governments, funders, outside agencies, and to the museum- going public. The Smoky Hill Museum was initially accredited in 1997. There will be a lot of wholesome family fun at the Vesper Community Center on Saturday December 2nd. There will be live Elvis Christmas music, a visit with Santa, an $850 xmas raffle, and bingo. The volunteer run community center is located at 1247 N 120th Rd Lincoln, KS 67455 less than 1 mile south of Hwy 18 in Vesper. 2023 KAY Regional Contest
Eight members of the Sylvan-Lucas KAY Club attended the are four KAY Regioanl Conference on November 6 at Norton Community High School. The club received the Red Award, recognizing their student leadership and service to their school, community, nation and world for the 2022-2023 school year. The Kansas Association for Youth (KAY) is a character-building, leadership training program directed by the Kansas State High School Activities Association. This nationally acclaimed organization provides students an opportunity to learn to assume their citizenship responsibilities and to enrich their personalities through well organized programs. Sylvan Senior Center members and their guests could not have asked for a more beautiful evening for their End of Summer celebration. They met in the Sylvan Grove city park on Tuesday, September 12. Mike Kratky grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, and members brought savory and sweet dishes to share. There were some new faces among the 40+ people who enjoyed good food and good fun. 09/19/2023 23:00

The Hometown Helpers Community Club had a full summer of work and play. After a June rocket building meeting and rocket launch in Hutchinson, KS, they held a business meeting in July. They met on July 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Sylvan Grove. The meeting was called to order by President Jacob Schultz. Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance, the Hometown Helpers pledge and motto. Chaplain Parker Reagan introduced Scripture verse Proverbs 3:5 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. Adelyn Dohl led the club in singing “Hello, Muddah, Hello Faddah” and “I’ve Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy Down in my Heart.” 08/23/2023 04:00

There will be family and community bingo at the Vesper Community Center this Saturday August 5th. The community center is located at 1247 N 120th Rd Lincoln KS 67455 right off Hwy 18 in Vesper. Volunteers will be selling grilled burgers, loaded nachos, cheese cake, pie, cinnamon rolls, ice cream sundaes, floats, popcorn and other snacks and beverages to fund raise for the community center and its programs. Nineteen members of the Hometown Helpers Community Club and their parents traveled to Hutchinson, KS, on Saturday, June 10, for the forty-third annual Kansas Rocket Aero Modeler’s Open. The launch was sponsored by KOSMO (The Kansas Organization for Space Modeling). KOSMO is a group of families and individuals in Kansas who have a common interest in model rocketry.
