International Clown Week: August 1 - 7. National Clown Day: Saturday of International Clown Week
National Clown Day was created to give recognition to those funny clowns that make us laugh and smile. It is estimated that there are over 10,000 clowns in organized clown groups, and over 20,000 clowns worldwide. They all have one goal in mind, and that’s to make us happy. You can celebrate just the day, or the whole week. On this day and week, clowns around the world do what they do best…. they clown around, holding events at malls, nursing homes, schools, and educational events. In 1991, the group Clowns of America renamed it International Clown Week, recognizing that there are many clowns around the world, and this event should be a worldwide celebration. Note: This day is not intended for those scary clowns you see in horror movies. If you are afraid of clowns, you suffer from Coulrophobia. 07/25/2023 23:00

Area schools gear up for 2023-24 school year
As a student, there were a few events or milestones, that helped keep track of how much “free” time was left to enjoy. First there is the last day of school. Then Memorial Day weekend and the opening of the city swimming pool. Vacation Bible School was always in June which kept us busy for a week, followed by Independence Day. After fireworks in July there was nothing left to be excited about. After mudding through triple-digit temperatures and seemingly endlessly long days, summer is obviously in full swing which means it is time to start getting ready for school! 07/11/2023 23:00

Rural Mural Art “In the Wind” to begin this summer in Vesper
The Vesper Community Center, an all-volunteer run and staffed organization, is having an outdoor mural series of art scenes painted around the exterior of the facility this summer. After making substantial updates to the interior of the facility, efforts are underway to make the exterior of the building and grounds more vibrant and attractive for weddings and other event uses. As part of this strategic goal, a large mural artwork is being commissioned this summer to create a new point of interest art-eco tourist attraction to bring visitors into the center and through the county. 07/04/2023 23:00
