Drug Prices
High costs and shortages of pharmaceuticals are serious, on-going issues. Drug prices in the US are among the highest in the world. A recent survey by the Rand Corporation looked at drug prices in 32 developed countries. US prices were the highest in the group and were more than twice the average of prices in other countries. What is especially troubling is that the products sold in many of these countries are the same drugs produced by the same manufacturers as those sold in the US at much higher prices.

Kids in the country
Tent camping in July in Kansas usually isn’t on my list of ways to spend a weekend. Yet I recently found myself slowly sinking into an air mattress with a clear view of the stars through a thin mesh canopy, which served as my only protection from the elements. Somehow this ill-advised excursion actually worked out with an overnight low in the mid-60s.

The City of Lincoln was awarded a $300,000 housing grant through the “Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) – Housing Rehabilitation” program by the KS Department of Commerce. The CDBG grant helps property owners within a target area of the city with the demolition of dilapidated structures and the rehabilitation of owner- and renter-occupied houses by replacing roofs, windows and siding, adding insulation, repairing foundations, upgrading electrical and mechanical systems, repairing porches, etc.
